Ready for the 2026 Economic Census

November 21, 2024 | Other Activities

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) will carry out the Economic Census again in 2026. The economic census is an activity once every ten years to collect data on business actors throughout Indonesia.

As a form of preparation and readiness of BPS in implementing the 2026 Economic Census (SE2026), BPS held a Technical and Administrative Coordination Meeting for Preparation for SE2026 in Surabaya, 19-21 November 2024. The coordination meeting was attended by BPS representatives throughout Indonesia. The Main Secretary of BPS, Imam Machdi, opened the activity and expressed his appreciation to all BPS levels in implementing the SE2026 Trial this year. Imam also emphasized the importance of collaboration with the business world and business associations in making SE2026 a success. “Business actors and associations have a vital role in the success of SE2026. "The active participation of business actors and associations not only helps carry out the census, but also strengthens the validity of the data," explained Imam.
To provide an overview and views on the role of SE2026 in Indonesian economic policy, a panel discussion was held featuring the Assistant Deputy for Increasing Economic Competitiveness of the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, Ichsan Zulkarnaen and the Director of Industry, Tourism and Creative Economy of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, Wahyu Wijayanto. The discussion was guided by the Director of BPS Distribution Statistics, Sarpono.

In this coordination meeting, the SE2026 Coordination Task Force (Garda) was also inaugurated which was tasked with coordinating the implementation of SE2026. This inauguration is a symbol that BPS is ready to implement SE2026!
